Course Description

This course provides students with a basic understanding of internal auditing. The course describes the role of the internal auditor in today’s corporate environment, the activities typically performed by an internal auditor, and the approaches used to plan internal audit activities on both an engagement and companywide basis.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Describe the life cycle of an internal audit.
  • Describe the International Professional Practices Framework applicable to internal auditing.
  • Understand and explain the role of internal auditing within an organization.
  • Comprehend the administrative work done by a chief audit executive.
  • Perform several common audit tasks using IDEA audit software.
  • Sit for the first and second parts of the Certified Internal Auditor’s exam.
